Ray Whitney was Florida's secret weapon. He was second top scorer behind Bure, managing 81-29-42 in 1999-2000. He's quick, agile and a real threat to goalies. Halfway through 2000-2001 he was 43-10-21.

So why, why WHY did an already struggling Florida trade him to the Blue Jackets for Kevyn Adams?

KEVYN ADAMS! He was 66-8-12! I appreciate that the Panthers were after defensive qualities, which Whitney didn't have, but all the same...Florida ended up BEHIND COLUMBUS the overall table. This was a team that, at the beginning of the season, looked like it was going to fly through and make the playoffs. They were beaten by an expansion team in its first season. Thanks Florida, you're making me sick!
